August in Austin. A hundred degrees in the shade. What a great time to start a cultsite for air-conditioner worshippers -- I mean, a knitting blog! Let's see... the obligatory "How I learned to knit:" My crafty sister, Ana, the Guru of all Gurus, moved in with my husband and me in 2001, and it didn't take her long at all to start sneaking in the little lessons. I spent a couple of years just doing a row here and a row there on her simpler projects. My first solo flight was the apron front halter-top in Lily Chin's Urban Knitter. I've mostly stuck to scarves and simple hats since then, but embarked on my first sweater in February of this year. (NO, it's not done yet, but I'm working on it, I swear!) Flights of ambition and dreams for the future include getting artistic with colorwork and, of course, luxe doggie garments for luxe-sized doggies.
