Toddler + Ice Cream = Messy but Cute
So, the boy is officially, really, really two years old.
If you've been keeping up with us, you know that Brent's been behind on verbal development despite every confidence in his intelligence. He just didn't want to talk before. Well, he's all caught up! He's even putting words together in cute little phrases like, "Shoes, go bye-bye!"
Oh yeah, and I thought we'd gotten the terrible two's tantrums over with early when he went through a few months of them around 16-20 months, but um, no. He's started again. He's not been feeling well the last several days due to a wasp bite and, I believe, another growth spurt. Maybe that's it....? God help us.
PS. We have the car! It's amazing. I love it. Pictures of us gloating will be coming soon.
11/27 EDIT: I can't believe that photo was taken just a few months ago. Brent's hair is so long it's hanging past his eyebrows. Like 1/2 inch a month growth?! Need to get the clippers out again... or spring for another visit to the kiddie barber place for a real haircut.

We got a new (to us) car!

It's a 2005 Cadillac STS 4 Dr Sedan -- and a white one with a tan interior and about 28K miles on it will be all ours as of Saturday! Now, lest you think Will got a big promotion or we won a scratch off or something, it's simpler than that. Will's grandfather is a sweet and generous man and would like to see us driving his great grandson around in something bigger and safer than the 96 Saturn Ion we're currently tooling around in. Besides, 2 adults with 2 jobs sharing one car is a pain in the butt. Ask Ana. I use her car as often as I use ours. We'll soon be trying to sell our 89 Oldsmobile Silhouette van that has a radiator leak we can't seem to fix and our 98 Dodge Neon R/T that is basically a paperweight for the Junkyard Green Giant. Wish us luck!!

The Stanley Hotel

Well, guess what I saw and I didn't even know it! ...oh. I already told you. Right.

Our trip to Estes Park in June was amazing. The Rocky Mountain National Park has got to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth. As we were driving around, I saw this great-looking building nestled in the mountains. I took the picture above just because it was pretty. I think I even said something like, "Ooh, I want to live there! Gonna take a picture to show Will and tell him to buy it for me."
And now, almost 2 months later, I read that the Stanley Hotel, where they filmed The Shining, is IN Estes Park! I told Ana, and she replied oh so calmly, "Of course it is. You took a picture of it." WHAT?! Now, I know my memory is bad but I would... oh waaaaiiiit. That big white building near the fairgrounds?? Yep. That's the one.
I guess I don't want Will to move there with me and Little Brent after all...

Aug 4's cool websurfing find

If you're an animal science geek like I am, maybe this will interest you. I found a website about the coelacanth, the prehistoric "living fossil" fish: http://www.dinofish.com/
It's got articles and photos of the history of the discovery, current population and location information, plus fun photos and games too. (Little Brent made me talk to him with Evil Yadacanth for over 20 minutes. He finds the guy quite entertaining. Click on "Conservation" then scroll down to "Interactive Talking Coelacanth" to have a chat with him yourself.)
What led me there? A chat forum request for help identifying a fish with glowing eyes spotted in a public aquarium. I really doubt it was a rare coelacanth, and I didn't find any other prospects, feasible or otherwise, but at least I found a fun website! Hope you like it too.

A New Blog!

Well, since I'm still stubbornly boycotting (and refusing to learn how to use) my Blogger Blog , which became my Google Blog without my consultation or consent... here's a new attempt. So far, this one's not too hard to figure out.
The most recent news is that the Annual July Party, now known as the Family Reunion, went off without a hitch!

The photo is one that shows what I liked best about it: the family, both near & dear and newly met, got along fabulously and much laughter was heard -- and notice that Will and little Brent spent their time at the beer cooler. More photos (including large size files for printing) at http://www.meowingdog.net/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=album71

It seems I left Blogger when the Google changeover went through and I don't remember why. I was so sure there was a really good reason but my sister swears it was just because I changed my password and couldn't remember the new one. ...well, that sounds like a really lame reason but you know, it's the kind of thing I do sometimes.

So anyway, I tried 360.yahoo.com for about three months and you know what? I LOVED it. It's a great blogging system. Except that it only accepts comments from other 360 users. And I don't know any. And I love it when people talk to me. I get lonely otherwise. So, yeah, that sucked. And here I am.

I'll be uploading my 360 blog posts in the next few days because I enjoyed them, and I'll get new stuff in here as I can, too. I hope to hear from ya'll now. I mean, I really do. 'Cause, if I don't that will mean it wasn't because of 360 that I was feeling alone; it was because no one was reading my blog! ....nahhhhh.
